Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of management of mine transport systems and production equipment including:

accessing, interpreting and applying technical information

accessing, interpreting and applying briefings and handover details

assessing the risks and consequences attached to production and transport systems and equipment

interpreting and applying manufacturer’s instructions

applying maintenance and modification systems

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the management of mine transport systems and production equipment that meets all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

planning and coordinating work and communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities

identifying the training needs of others

demonstrates completion of applying and monitoring mine transport systems and production equipment that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

proposing practical recommendations for identified key issues

commissioning and maintaining transport systems and equipment

monitoring procedures for reviewing and modifying work procedures

participating in system audits

inspecting plant and equipment

identifying environmental issues, risks and hazards


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of applying and monitoring mine transport systems and production equipment through:

key components of production and transport equipment and systems including:

equipment and system types, uses, characteristics and limitations appropriate for safe operation at the mine site including:

isolation and safe control of energy sources including: electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel

computer based systems

confined space entry requirements

identifying fire prevention techniques and fire-fighting systems

safety design features of production and transport systems including traffic control devices, and statutory inspection requirements

standard operating procedures relating to production and transport equipment
